The History of RNCoE
Ruhuna National College of Education was established in the year 2000 under the visionary leadership of Prof. Richard Pathirana. Located in Kuruduwatta (approximately 15 km from Galle city on the Matara-Udugama main road, near the Pinnaduwa entrance to the Southern Expressway), our institution occupies a beautiful 25.6-acre campus.
The college began with programs in Education, Home Economics, and Physical Education. The first batch of student teachers was registered on May 15, 2000, with Ms. P.L. Kaluarachchi serving as the first Principal.
Over the years, we have grown into a premier teacher education institution in the Southern Province, committed to producing skilled and dedicated educators for the nation.
